Description
The Order Mecoptera is another of the relatively small insect orders and members are often referred to as Scorpion Flies. Males of this order often display rather unusual mating behaviour towards females and often present an insect 'Gift' in order to mate.
Australia is poorly represented by this order and many entomologists ignore the group. No doubt, there are many species awaiting discovery.
NOTE: Students wishing to undertake this Module will need to have completed the Introduction to Entomology Course NIOE - 01C.
