Description
The Isoptera (Termites) are of major economic importance due to the damage they may inflict on timber and other wooden structures. However, the vast majority of termites play a vital role in the recycling of plant material and unlocking these nutrients back into the soil.
The fascinating biology of this insect order will be covered in this course as well as the methods that can be employed in order to facilitate their control.
The course will assist students in understanding the relationships between the Isopteran Order and the environment in general.
NOTE: Students wishing to undertake this Module will need to have completed the Introduction to Entomology Course NIOE - 01C.
